Sigtronics Intercom Systems

The quality of sound is the key to clear and accurate communications for positive control of any situation. Being able to discuss situations and to brief the crew while on route to an emergency is a valuable asset. An intercom system with noise reducing headsets and noise cancelling mikes makes this possible in the presence of loud engine noise and sirens. Connections to the vehicle radio allow everyone to be up to date on arrival at the scene.

Sigtronics has been the industry standard of excellence in high noise aircraft systems since 1974. This experience has been used in the design of the UltraSound emergency apparatus intercom systems to insure the highest quality durability and reliability. Now you can protect your hearing and have clear communications with all personnel and the radio.

Each crew member's headset is connected to a voice activated intercom system providing convenient hands free communication. Sigtronics intercoms turn on instantly when you start speaking and turn off when you stop, which eliminates constant noise pick-up through the mike.

Talk among the crew is not transmitted over the radio, although everyone hears everything received or sent on the radio. To transmit, a user must press a push to talk (PTT) switch. Only that one person's voice will be heard on the radio channel and on the intercom. Everyone else's microphone is switched off while the PTT switch is pressed. Transmitting can be done from two or more independent positions, each with its own PTT switch. These switches can be located in convenient locations. The regular hand mike and speaker of the radio remain useable.

Systems are available for all fire apparatus and emergency vehicles and the intercom can be set up with as many stations as required. Extra stations can be installed where needed (i.e. pump panel, bucket or turret). We customize systems to fit your special requirements.

The UltraSound intercom system interfaces to all mobile radios. They are compatible with single or dual radios, and cellular telephones. The UltraSound unit mounts on a bracket and adjusts for easy viewing. Panel mounted intercoms are also available.

If an intercom function is not needed, there are mobile radio adapters available. These allow a user with a headset to hear and talk on a mobile radio in high noise environments.

Hearing Protection

The hearing of crew members is protected by using Sigtronics headsets. They are light weight for comfort, reduce noise for safety and have noise cancelling electret microphones for superb voice fidelity. The headsets have a noise reduction of 24 dB to comply with NFPA 1500.
