The IC-R3 is ICOM's handheld audio and video receiver

What Does It Do?

The video capable IC-R3! Never before has a handheld receiver given you as much information as the IC-R3. Not only can you see receiver's operating status and spectrum scope, you can display broadcast visual information: TV program, picture from wireless cameras and more. The IC-R3 is great for sporting events, security, Amateur TV, and you can watch your favorite TV program at anytime, anywhere. But, with a frequency coverage of 0.495-2450 MHz, and AM, FM, WFM modes built-in, the IC-R3 is not your average TV receiver! You've never seen anything like it!

TV And Wireless Video

The IC-R3 combines a 2-inch TFT color display along with a wide band receiver to bring a visual element to what has traditionally been an audio. The IC-R3 not only covers the commercial broadcast channels, 2-69, and the amateur radio ATV frequencies in the 430, 1200, and 2400 MHz bands, the IC-R3 also gives a free tuning AM TV receiver from 25.500 MHz to 2450 MHz, along with FM TV capability from 900-1300 and 2250-2450 MHz. Experimenting with wireless video opens a whole new world for monitoring, whether for fun or security.

Hours of Fun

The IC-R3 also has an extremely wide receive range of .5-2450 MHz. Speaking of hours of fun! The IC-R3 comes with a Li-Ion battery offering up to 27 hours of continual operation!

Display

The 2" TFT display allows you to control the radio through several different color operating displays. These display allow you to show the operating status, a signal strength indicator, along with a band scope. The band scope allows you to analyze activity within a specified band, adjustable to 500 kHz wide.

Memory Channels

The IC-R3 has 400 memory channels to store your most frequency used channels. Also, there are 50 scan edge memories for programming your frequency ranges. The alphanumeric help identify then memory channels for easy memory management. There is an additional 10 video memories for quick retrieval of your favorite video sources.

Accessories

The IC-R3 comes complete with a telescopic antenna, belt clip, wall charger, Li-Ion battery pack, and spacer for optional operation on three AA alkaline batteries. Options include a desktop rapid charger capable of operation from 110VAC or 12 V DC, spare Li-Ion battery packs, a leather protective carrying case, a cigarette lighter adapter, and the cloning software and cable. IC-R5 - Compact Wideband Handheld Receiver

The IC-R5 is ICOM's ultra compact, super wide band handheld receiver. Excellent audio in a tiny package!

A large, easy-to-read LCD display with the visual information you need - like operating status, signal strength, battery indicator, and alphanumeric naming for the 1250 memory channels (including 200 auto-write scan memories, and 25 scan edge pairs). With the computer software and cable package (CS-R5), programming is easy. The CS-R5 allows you to customize the IC-R5 for memory channels, scan lists, scan ranges and many other radio settings. This software package will also be supported for frequency downloads on the www.icomreceivers.com website.

Wide Band Receive

495 kHz - 1309.995 MHz, AM/FM/WFM. Preprogrammed TV and Shortwave memories. Listen to AM & FM broadcast radio stations, police, fire, military, aircraft, various amateur bands, and more.

And, let's not forget, the IC-R5 is a full-blown receiver with full broadcast AM, FM, and TV reception. Along with an Internal Bar antenna for clear reception of the AM broadcast bands, the IC-R5 has a "HOT 100" Shortwave frequency and all the U.S. TV audio channels already programmed!

Memory channels

1250 Memory Channels With alphanumeric naming. 1000 memory, 25 scan edge pairs, 200 auto-write scan memory channels (Max. 100 x 18 banks). Quickly tune to your favorite frequencies!

Icom's exclusive Dynamic Memory Scan provides the programming flexibility to customize your scanning bank from 2 to 100 channels. The bank naming feature also identifies up to 18 scanning lists.

Sweep for additional frequencies with the IC-R5's Auto Memory Write. These 200 memories are in addition to the standard 1000, so you are able to catch radio communications that are not published on websites or scanning guides.

Versatile power requirements

Operation of the IC-R5 is possible from a wide variety of power sources with the external DC port and Icom's use of 2 AA-size batteries. Whether Dry Cell, Alkaline, or the newer rechargeable batteries, the IC-R5 will give you hours of operation. The external DC jack also provides a power source and acts as a charger for AA NiCad-type batteries.

IC-R20

Scan, Monitor, Record - the Pro's Scanner!

Dual Watch receive! Listen to two frequencies at once! Until the IC-R20, the capability of monitoring two frequencies required two radios. Whether you need to monitor local public safety, air traffc control, or at the track listening to two drivers, even the play by play from both the local TV and radio station is possible!

The IC-R20 has an internal 32MB digital recorder capable of storing received communications. This feature is useful in a variety ways, like recording a wireless microphone audio at a meeting. There is also a USB port to download to a computer for storage or to forward to a friend. (PC playback not possible)

IC-R1500

Ultra wideband mobile/base station receiver with remote control head

While similar to the PCR1500, the IC-R1500 is supplied with a remote control head for mobile and/or base station operation. It provides a variety of mounting possibilities in various place.

Remote control head
While similar to the PCR1500, the IC-R1500 is supplied with a remote control head for mobile and/or base station operation. It provides a variety of mounting possibilities in various place.

60 channels per second scan

Optional DSP capability
Whether you are into weak signal work or you have noise from your vehicles ignition, the optional DSP, UT-106, will help. The noise reduction and auto notch filter functions are the key to pulling a radio signal out of the noise.

1000 alphanumeric memory channels
1000 on-board memory channels at the touch of a button! With Icom’s Dynamic Memory Scan, DMS, you have a versatile memory channel management system at your command. The 1000 memory channels can be arranged by service or personal preference in the 21 memory banks. Selectively link the channels together to scan depending on your needs. Programming the memory channels and 6 character memory names is simple with your PC.

CTCSS, DTCS tone and pocket beep
The CTCSS and DTCS tones provide quiet stand-by while waiting for a matched tone signal. And the pocket beep function alerts you with a beep sound when a matched tone signal is received.

IC-R2500

Dualwatch, Digital Mode, Diversity Receiver

Dualwatch capability*1
The IC-R2500 has dualwatch receive capability*1, allowing you to receive two bands simultaneously. It covers 0.01-3299.999 MHz in AM, FM, WFM, SSB, CW, DV*2 and P25*3 modes on the main receiver, while the sub-receiver covers 50-1300MHz in AM, FM and WFM modes*4.

Wide LCD display
for independent band control The wide LCD display shows both main/sub receiver settings in an easy-to-read symmetric side-by-side layout. The controller provides separate tuning, volume, squelch knobs and function buttons for the left (Main) and right (Sub) receivers. The LCD backlit color is selectable between amber and green for your preference.

Digital mode reception
The optional UT-118 D-STAR digital unit and UT-122* P25 digital unit provide the latest digital mode reception. Catch the action in digital communications!
* Already installed with some versions.

Diversity receive capability
The diversity receive* mode is useful for mobile operation where the received signal changes continuously. It compares the signal strength and chooses the antenna with the better signal to maintain good sound and receive quality.
* Two antennas are required. Available in FM/DV/P25 mode between 50-1300MHz only. Diversity reception is not available while using dualwatch.

IC-R9500

Professional communications receiver with 0.005 to 3335MHz coverage

Basic Performance - Wideband coverage
The IC-R9500 covers 0.005-3335 MHz in SSB, AM, FM (WFM), CW, FSK and P25* modes. It is suitable for a wide variety of radio monitoring and listening activities.
* Optional UT-122 digital unit is required.

Superb receiver performance
The IC-R9500 achieves amazing performance by using a D-MOS FET array in the 1st mixer (below 30MHz) and an excellent IMD roofing filter. The IC-R9500 has +40dBm IP3 and 109dB dynamic range at 14.1MHz. IP3 performance is +9.8dBm at 50MHz and +6.2dBm at 620MHz (+5dBm (typical) from 30MHz to 3335MHz).

Five roofing filters
The IC-R9500 has 5 independent roofing filters (240, 50, 15, 6 and 3kHz) for improved selectivity. In very crowded RF spectrum conditions, it is extremely important to protect against strong in-band signals. The 3kHz roofing filter provides a 130dB (approx.)* blocking dynamic range.
* At 15MHz reception, with 5kHz separation signals.

Dual DSP
The IC-R9500 incorporates two independent, 32-bit floating point DSP units, a dedicated DSP unit for receiver functions and another for the spectrum scope. By using the power of two independent DSP units, the radio can respond to operator changes in an instant.

±0.05ppm high frequency stability
The IC-R9500 uses an OCXO (Oven Control Crystal Oscillator) unit which provides ±0.05ppm frequency stability from 0°C to 50°C. The 10MHz reference frequency can either be supplied to or input from external equipment.

Digital IF filter
The digital IF filter* allows the operator to adjust the filter shape (sharp or soft), filter bandwidth, and center frequency characteristics. The digital twin PBT narrows and shifts the IF passband to efficiently eliminate undesired signals.
* For FM, WFM and P25 mode, the passband width is fixed.

Spectrum Scope
Multi function spectrum scope Using a dedicated DSP unit improves the dynamic range of the spectrum scope.
The IC-R9500 has four different spectrum modes such as normal/wide and center/fixed width. The normal spectrum scope covers a range from +/-2.5kHz to +/-5MHz, while the wide band spectrum scope* observes up to ±500MHz ±10MHz, ±25MHz, ±50MHz, ±100MHz ±250MHz and ±500MHz selectable). When using the normal spectrum scope, the digital scope's filter width can vary from 200Hz to 20kHz with a variable sweep speed.
The spectrum scope can also be set to use specific scope edges or to center the span on the receiving frequency. The peak search function automatically moves the display marker to the strongest signal on the scope screen. In addition to these features, the scope has 3 levels of attenuation (10dB, 20dB, 30dB).
* While using the wide band scope function, AF output is muted.

Functions 7-inch wide color TFT LCD
The large 7-inch wide (800 x 480 pixels) active matrix display delivers quick response time, high resolution and has a wide viewing angle. The multi-function spectrum scope is displayed in vivid color. The background color is selectable from black or blue for your preference. In addition, the IC-R9500 has a VGA connector allowing you to connect an external monitor.

Multiple RSSI
S-meter, dBµ, dBµ(emf) and dBm meter types are selectable in the IC-R9500. The dBµ, dBµ(emf) and dBm meter have ±3dB of accuracy (10 to 70dBµ signal from 100kHz to 3335MHz at 25°C).

Noise blanker
The IC-R9500 has the DSP controlled noise blanker that significantly reduces pulse type noise and improves the S/N ratio by removing interfering noise. The noise blanker has two channels with adjustable width and depth parameters. You can use these to target the specific noise interference.

Two-point manual notch filter
The digital manual notch filter has a depth of more than 70dB at two points with adjustable filter width (wide, middle, narrow). This means that two strong beat signals can be eliminated at once even while using the auto notch filter.

Synchronous AM detection
The synchronous AM (S-AM) detection provides less distor ted audio than normal diode detection. This mode is useful when fading occurs or signal level is low. The IC-R9500 can recreate the carrier signal exactly by using the DSP. In addition, upper or lower sideband demodulation for S-AM is selectable for eliminating inter ference from adjacent strong signals.

FSK modulator & decoder
The IC-R9500 has built-in FSK demodulator and decoder.

10 VFOs
The IC-R9500 has 10 VFO channels for tuning and storing operating frequencies, mode, filter width and other settings. For example, use VFO-1 for the 7MHz band, VFO-2 for the VHF marine band,VFO-3 for the 1200MHz band, etc. You can quickly change the operating bands with the 10-keypad. When the VFO is changed, the settings are automatically stored in that VFO channel.

A total of 1220 memory channels
The IC-R9500 has a total of 1220 memory channels. Store frequencies, modes, filter width and tuning steps. Memory channels are grouped into 10 memory banks. By connecting to a USB keyboard, you can edit memory contents directly.

Digital voice recorder
The IC-R9500 has two types of digital voice recorders. One is the regular recorder, recording for long periods in "WAV" format into the built-in CF memory or an external USB memory. The sampling rate is variable from 8kHz (SQ1) to 48kHz (SHQ). In SQ1 mode, up to 130 minutes (approx.) of recorded audio can be stored into the CF memory. The other recorder is the shor t voice recorder, which saves the previous 15 seconds of radio audio into RAM, allowing you to play back the audio instantly.

Multi-scan functions
Numerous scanning functions to search for desired stations are available to make operation easier. The IC-R9500 scans 40 channels per second in memory scan mode.
