Because everything Com-Fastener makes is custom made, built to order, you can request for example a version of the PST25-C100649 with Torx® Tamper Resistant head. Com-Fastener can also supply any fastener in a black finish, rather than bright nickel plating. Similarly, stainless steel can be provided with a charcoal black finish. Hardened versions of the screws are available.
Another example is to replace the head of the MSTD-D37, Orion D37-plug knurled screws with a tamperproof version.
The point is that the extra cost to mix and match is minimal, in many cases only adding a few cents to the cost of a fastener.
The present stock of tamperproof screw blanks will allow the manufacture of fasteners in any standard or metric thread up to 5 mm. in diameter, 25 mm. in length. Other dimensions or an exclusive tamperproof fastener can be done as custom work.
Generally, to make an item cost effective, quantities on the order of 2000 pieces have to be produced. If there is enough demand, Com-Fastener may produce an item even though the quantities are not there initially. Sometimes the increased cost can be justified on safety grounds.
Another consideration with small batch custom work is increased delivery delays, as they generally are interspersed between longer runs. Keeping the design close to what already exists will minimize this.
